Chris Singel Receives the We Are Harris Award!

Harris is honored to have employees who take pride in the products, services, and support that we deliver to schools districts across the country.  The We Are Harris award recognizes when individuals reach beyond their standard responsibilities to do more for their clients, and for our company.

This quarter, we at Harris are proud to recognize Chris Singel, based in Bethel Park, PA, for going above and beyond to support the Harris School Financial Solutions division and the school districts that use our products and services.

Chris does more than just his job, of which some high points include: developing product user guides, training guides, and software documentation; working closely with developers to document and test ACA reporting features; closing over 1800 support calls over the 2015 calendar year; and taking on responsibilities beyond the scope of his position. Chris is always pushing himself to develop relationships that help him learn and grow while helping his clients get the most from their relationship with Harris. Being able to travel to all of his client sites and meet his clients face-to-face was a huge win for Chris with Harris. This has really helped him to foster and grow relationships and to better understand and execute on his clients’ needs.

“One of Chris’s greatest assets is his personality.  Everyone loves Chris.  He is always pleasant, and tries as hard as he can to make the clients happy.”

Chris began his tenure with Harris when Prosoft was acquired in June 2011; but has been supporting Prosoft clients for almost 15 years.  After the acquisition, the change proved rewarding for Chris, who stated

“With Harris I get to fill more roles, I have more advancement opportunities, I get to work with a lot of talented people. We have quarterly meetings where the management team will transparently discuss business numbers like EBITA, and it actually helps me understand my role better – how I’m contributing to the bottom line, where we are going, and why we do what we do.”

Of all the areas of Support that Chris has a hand in, the area he takes most pride in is his product training and documentation; noting that while obtaining his degree in Business, he always appreciated the professors’ curriculum that was broken down into simple steps and common language, and using that as a basis for his user guides.

Harris operates under 10 Core Values.  When asked what his advice was for others to achieve success at Harris, Chris says,

“Absolutely embrace the core value Understanding/Learning.  There is no question in my mind that adopting that mindset is absolutely essential for preparing yourself for new roles, new products you’re going to support, and any clients that you meet along the way.”
